Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only superstar to have moved from the country to mainstream and become an international icon of pop culture. Swift left country music like it was another layer and proved that she's possibly the most intelligent pop singer/songwriter of her time. One who can harness the mood of times to make her music personal, and be able to perform at the opposite. The evidence was clear from her first songs, especially with regard to the neo pay homage to Tim McGraw. On her second release Fearless (2008), Swift revealed a singer/songwriter who was beginning to know her. The album was hugely successful and not just in the US and six of the singles have been certified platinum in the wake of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also performed well around all over the world. Swift managed to build upon her success with Speak Now almost two year after. With the three albums following -- Red 2012 1989, Red 2012 and Reputation 2017, Swift's success only grew. It was a clear indication that she was in an entirely new world of pop where she fit in. Even though she had slowed her work with folklore and Evermore released in 2020, she was nevertheless at the forefront of pop music.
