Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist, media critic and award-winning feminist for over a decade. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource to educate women about their role in the narratives of pop culture It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. She also serves as the executive director. As well as working to expose the issues surrounding the targeted and sexist assaults on women and other minorities in online spaces she is dedicated to breaking down the stigmas and stereotypes in the popular culture. Sarkeesian who has the degree of Master's in the field of Social and Political thought from York University, is a sought after public speaker. Passionate about issues of gender identities and feminisms from the age of 7, she started her site Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was still a student at the University. The determined lady had planned to start a web-based series examining the gender roles in video games. She found herself the target of a harassment online campaign. The woman was not stopped by the harassment, the fact is that it only bolstered her determination to be feminist and media critic. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards in recognition of her many prominent contributions to the field of feministism.
