Guarnaschelli was born to Maria Guarnaschelli as well as John Guarnaschelli. In the year 1991, she graduated from Barnard College with an art history degree. In one time, she was paid a minimum wage at an American Place in 1991. Guarnaschelli began her career in the culinary field by working with her mother to make a number of dishes and writing cookbooks. Guarnaschelli's first job was in the kitchen of Larry Forgione. Her son Marc Forgione was the Iron Chef. Guarnaschelli then went on to work at various eateries throughout France as well as Los Angeles. Guy Savoy runs La Butte Chaillot. Prior to becoming part of Butter as its executive chef, Guarnaschelli worked as a chef for Daniel Boulud at his eponymous restaurant. She was executive chef at The Darby restaurant until its closure. She is chair of the Food Museum's Culinary Council. Guarnaschelli published her first cookbook in the year 2013. "Old school comfort food What I learned about how to cook" is a collection of autobiographical stories and the recipes she loves from her books she's modified to her home.
